Tis The Season For Basketball

oh yeah......and Christmas! Happy Holidays!

Thanksgiving went off pretty well. Mr.Coach didn't burn down the barn or even get a single blister. I already had his AFLAC claim filled out and ready to go to the hospital but it wasn't needed. Come to think of it, nobody went to the hospital this year, scary....

As I was preparing Thanskgiving dinner Thursday a.m. I started reflecting back on Thanksgivings as a child. I got kind of teary and then this thought came to me. When I was a little girl at the same time of day every year (about 10:45 a.m.) I would start getting all excited and would pace the house. I would look from window to window and run to the door every time a car went by. My sister was on her way home and she was always home by 11:00 a.m. I couldn't wait to see her. I would cry when she got there and I would cry when she left (kind of like now). As I was reflecting on this memory, Mr.C comes into the kitchen and asks me if I'm ok, as I'm just standing watching potatoes boil. I kind of giggle and tell him what I was thinking about and how times have changed. He was thinking I was meaning how I was the one cooking or how she wasn't coming home this year. I just looked at him and laughed and said "well I was really thinking that it's 10:45 a.m. and MY SISTER IS NOT COMING THIS YEAR, I'M SO FREAKIN LUCKY!". Kind of a reversal from years past. I love her to death but she stresses me. I still feel like I have to cater to her every whim because she's only home once in a while.

Black Friday got me up and out of the house at 4:10 a.m. April and I headed to Joplin to get the best deals on all the latest junk we didn't need (she neeeeeeeded those earrings). Kassi was wanting us to go to Tulsa so she could go with us before work but we didn't. Aprils hubby picked me up a camo crock-pot at Bass Pro! I love it!!!!! I haven't used it yet but it's so darned cute. Who wouldn't want a camo crock-pot? I bought Mr.C the Select Comfort bed he's been wanting. I'm such a sucker! I got a few things for myself and Bryce but I had the hardest time finding stuff for Natalie. We drug back into Miami about 3:00 p.m. I got home and got the loot stashed in the 5th wheel and got into the house about the time Mr.C decides to go to Grove to Lowe's. He has decided to remodel our bedroom.

We are mudding and painting the walls, adding a barn wood panelling up 4 ft of the wall, repainting the furniture, hanging duck blind netting (yes! you read that right, and yes I'm nuts) and building a new headboard and footboard for the new bed. We are sleeping on pull-out couches in the living room and they are so not comfy! I took a semi-before picture so I can post before/after pics. I forgot to take a pic of it before we emptied all the furniture and stacked it in the middle of the room. You'll just have to use your imagination. Of course, this will take 4 times as long to complete for two reasons, Mr.C is a perfectionist and he is also coaching 4 nights a week plus Saturdays are Nutcracker practices. Hopefully by Spring break our new bed will be up and we will be back in our room.

Poor Cleo! Her tummy is all broke again. I took her to the vet yesterday thinking they'd give her another shot, some more pills and call me to tell me to pick her up after work. I called to check on her about noon and they said I could get her today after work. She has to spend the night. I told them to make room in her kennel for Mr.C because she's never slept a night without him. He got a full report on her last night at the basketball game from the lady who works there. Cleo is fine, she's just very spoiled and nobody can walk by her without talking to her.

This Saturday is the big Miami Christmas parade. The Nutcracker cast will have float so I will have to don my big ol' dress and walk down Main Street in the lovely 40 degree weather. I hope the weight of it will keep me warm! Mr.C is also being the legs of Mother Ginger in the production. If your in the area on the 9th and 10th it's a show you won't want to miss!

I have so much to do this week at work I may not post for a while again. I'm sure that won't suprise you. My New Years resolution will be to post at least every 2 days. I'm sure that will stick around as long as the yearly diet.

I just wrote a whole, long comment about Black Friday but Blogger fucked me over and lost it.

So, in a nut shell, thank you. You really made my day. I had so much fun Friday I'm still giddy over it. I really needed the outing and I'm so happy that you went with me. Thank you so much! You're such a good friend!
